  • Admin Stuff at Home

I think most people would have to do admin things at home.  Lots of paperwork: checking utilities bills online; make sure they are right; pay bills; reading investments details; fill out some necessary forms.  It really takes my time!

Recently I filled out a tax-return online in eTax, which is the tax-return system provided by the Hong Kong Government.  This is very facinating if you compared that with the United States, where there are no such government-provided online tax-return; the US's online tax return was made possible by external companies such as TurboTax.

While the HK Government encourages people to use online tax-return to save the environment, I use it primarily for the sake of electronic submission and the assurance of receipt (no worries on lost mail..etc).  Next year, the Inland Revenue would pre-fill out some financial information based on the info I entered in the current year.

  • hey very infomational which is good! =)

  • That are lot of issues for private electron tax filling products as they don't keep up with changes in regulations and rules of the Government.

The best example is the simulation package promised by Goerge Bush. Due to some bugs and misunderstandings between the government and private companies who made the tax filing products, many people have months of delay to receive the simulation package. Too bad!

  • @kypinq - Texas mui! you grad la bor! OPT?

@quantum2 - Although TurboTax is lengthy, it at least uses questions to guide you to get the tax-return done.  Very annoying though.  And TurboTax is free of charge for Federal return only if your income is below certain level!

Btw, what's Bush's simulation package about?

  • i m not graduating yet worrr... still have 2 more qtrs since im doing two majors, finance and acct, currently interning in the summer ^^

  • @ngyukkai - Basically the simulation package from Bush is simple, just put $300 ~ $600 into your pocket and wish you will send it right away.

  • @kypinq - long way to go, village girl!

  • @quantum2 - oh the missing "t" ..stimulation :)

Yes I got $300 too from my 2007-08 tax return.  I could not think of anyway to spent it ..it's now in my Wellsfargo...
